On April 10, 1912, the story began. The Titanic eased out of her dock at Southampton on her maiden voyage. The crowd that gathered for the occasion was in awe at the incredible sight. Titanic was the largest moving object ever built at that time. Three football fields long, longer than the tallest building in the world, the Titanic spanned 882 feet. Three years went into building her and required the labor of of over 15,000 people. Despite its technological innovations, the Titanicnonetheless marked itself in history as a vessel of catastrophe, panic, and sorrow.
