Greeters play a vital role in taking pressure off of the front line staff, allowing them to provide excellent customer service, while providing a valuable service to our guests. For the summer of 2021 we are asking our Greeters to add to their duties by taking on the pivotal role of welcoming guests to the Museum, sharing Museum rules, and metering guests as they enter the Museum. For this summer season, they will be stationed on the front porch of the house.

Greeters answer guests' questions regarding upcoming entry times, parking, places to eat, and information about other nearby attractions. We ask our greeters to serve six hours each month with particular focus on high volume times--summer, holidays, and spring break.

Greeters are asked to wear our standard business casual black and white along with their name tag. Weather permitting, greeters are stationed outside in our courtyard with a bench for when they need to take a break and an umbrella for shade. In colder months, we set greeters up in the Carriage House.

Below is the current version of our Greeter's Manual, which we created to help greeters answer the wide variety of questions they receive. It does not reflect the full amount of information in the Greeter Binder (maps, etc. are missing) but it has the most important pieces. All greeters are expected to go through our new volunteer training  as well as a special greeter training.
